Barbeque is a favorite food in the house. Chicken barbecue, pork barbecue or chicken wings & veggie kebab are among the usual fare of the family on summers. My kids are starting to like them too. Thus, I bought a complete set of barbeque tools and a full array of barbeque sauce and seasonings. I usually marinate pork or chicken overnight. I use a simple marinate sauce of lemon, soy sauce and ½ cup of gin to tenderize the meat.

Our usual barbeque meal is complimented with java rice and a side salad of diced cucumber, pineapples, tomato, and white onion. The children sometimes join in the cooking with skewered marshmallow, cheese and hotdog. Truly our barbecue party has become an annual tradition. It is usually the time when simple victories in school or career of family members are celebrated. In fact, even my in-laws look forward to it as well. It is our family’s celebration of summer solstice. It has become our annual reunion besides the Thanksgiving dinner and Christmas dinner.
