oil spill cleanup

Water and oil don’t mix and it becomes a disaster when a ship, truck or train accidentally dumps its cargo on a lake, stream or sea. The oil sits on top of the water and spreads across the surface. It then flows along with the currents and tides which result to poisoning of many animals along the way.

One of the ways to get oil off the water’s surface is to use dispersing agents for oil spill cleanup. These substances cause oil to bead or bunch up into tiny droplets that can mix into the water and disperse into deeper layers. The underwater currents can then theoretically dilute the oil therefore minimizing its risk to the environment.
