Wood cribs
Are all baby cribs made of wood? I tend to believe so as I have yet to see a crib made of other materials. I guess there are wicker bassinets for babies but that does not count because those are only for infants. They look more like decorative fixtures than a functional baby crib. I suppose the next question is why cribs are almost always made of wood.
Wood cribs do not absorb too much heat or cold, therefore it is comfortable for the baby. Can you imagine a crib made of stainless steel? The slats will be warm in the daytime and ‘cold as steel’ at night. Think of when the baby starts to crawl and move around the crib. Little bumps on wooden slats will not be too hard on his head. But imagine baby bumping into a steel bar. What a major disaster. A crib made from stainless steel will probably stay in the store for years before anybody picks it up. If ever one does.
