There are things that remind you of your childhood. Step stools for kids are just one of them. I still remember how my older brother used to stand on one when it was his turn to wash the plates after a meal. Our parents wanted us to grow up knowing how to do housework. You graduated into washing the plates after you have mastered sweeping crumbs from under the dining table.

I looked forward to being allowed to wash the plates. It meant dealing with water and to me that was more like playing than working. You end up with your shirt soaking wet but that was half the fun. As I grew taller, there was no more need for the stool. Somehow, it became less of a game and more of a chore to wash dishes when you can reach the sink and did not need the step stool anymore.
