Acrylic, a synthetic polymer fiber that contains at least 85% acrylonitrile polymethyl methacrylate. It is also commonly called acrylic glass or plexiglass. It came into commercial use in 1936 initially for constructing residential and commercial aquariums. It has since then been used in the production of a lot of household items including acrylic glassware, trays and salad bowls. Acrylic products have taken on interesting colors and designs.
Acrylic glassware comes in shapes and designs that are similar to real glass. However, they have the advantage of being made of thicker material and are more durable. They are therefore more convenient to use in informal parties, by the pool or where children run around. Acrylic glassware is also cheaper. In case of accidents they will not shatter the way glass would.

Grand lighting fixtures are imposing pieces that are easily the centerpiece of the dining or living area. Chandeliers used to be seen only in hotels, high end restaurants and mansions. Now, we find them in regular homes. Before, we just wondered how those monstrous pieces are being cleaned. Now, if you have a smaller version of the chandelier in your home, you have to know how to take care of cleaning it.
These lighting fixtures gather dust fast. Because of their intricate designs, it will be difficult to clean them out. Your best bet is to bring them to a professional and have them cleaned, but that will cost you a bit. If you are brave enough to attempt to do the job yourself, be sure to prepare yourself. Before you start with anything make sure that the switch is off. Then, study the structure. It is just a matter of taking out crystals and knowing how to put them back. Wash the pieces with soap and water. Wipe the base and metal work with a damp cloth. When everything is dry, put them back together again. You will be rewarded with the glow of clear light diffused by clean crystal pieces.

My father was an architect. Although I did not inherit his talent and skill I do appreciate architecture. I enjoy looking at beautiful houses and gorgeous landscape. In some office buildings I noticed that they have silk palm trees beside real plants. They looked like real trees even up close.
Silk palm trees are surprisingly realistic. When you touch the leaves, the soft silk feels so smooth. These are perfect for lobbies of apartment buildings for families with kids. Silk palm trees can also be used in indoor playgrounds. They don’t need any maintenance and you won’t have to worry about kids pouring their juices and sodas on them.

I am one of those people who lead frazzled lifestyles. I’m always busy and messy. My oversized purse is brimming with stuff. I have make up kits and organizers in them. When I first heard about purse organizers, I wasn’t sure how they could help me. I figured I had a messy purse and having an organizer will just add to the mess. I am glad to say that I was mistaken.
First of all a purse organizer is small. It can fit inside most purses. It has several small and big pockets. You can easily arrange your lipsticks and pens. There are pockets for papers and other thin materials. The purse organizer is very helpful when it comes to keeping your small items from spilling all over your bag.

Cook some of your favorite baked recipes using stoneware pottery that is high fired for durability. A pottery baking dish is perfect for creating those tasty pies and casseroles that you have learned from mom. Ensure the long life of your pottery baking dishes by following certain guidelines. Never put pottery on an open flame or electric range burner.
Avoid thermal shock such as extreme temperature changes which weaken the clay body. Let your pottery dish preheat with the oven. Don’t transfer a plate directly from the refrigerator or freezer into the microwave. Remember that pottery baking dishes can handle any oven temperature once they have warmed evenly.

How did this towering piece of freestanding, weight-driven pendulum clock come to be called a grandfather clock? Could it be because it stood 6 to 8 feet from the floor? Could it be because of its authoritative sound as it strikes out the time? Whatever the reason, grandfather clocks stand with authority as it claims respect as an important piece in any home. They are key pieces that are handed down from generation to generation.
A grandfather clock needs special care and attention. It is not difficult to set up but because it is run by gravity unlike traditional clocks that are run by electricity special instruction is included when you buy one. Once set-up they have to be wound manually at regular intervals, sometimes daily, sometimes weekly, and even monthly. A general clean-up and oiling should be done by a professional every two to three years. With proper care, grandfather clocks will continue to provide time in its unique way for many many years.

There are things that remind you of your childhood. Step stools for kids are just one of them. I still remember how my older brother used to stand on one when it was his turn to wash the plates after a meal. Our parents wanted us to grow up knowing how to do housework. You graduated into washing the plates after you have mastered sweeping crumbs from under the dining table.
I looked forward to being allowed to wash the plates. It meant dealing with water and to me that was more like playing than working. You end up with your shirt soaking wet but that was half the fun. As I grew taller, there was no more need for the stool. Somehow, it became less of a game and more of a chore to wash dishes when you can reach the sink and did not need the step stool anymore.

Improve parts cleaning in your maintenance operation as well as reduce hazardous waste the activity generates. Use aqueous parts washers that use water-based solutions. They are less dangerous to operate than petroleum solvent parts washers. Aqueous cleaners eliminate the slight fire risk that petroleum solvents such as mineral spirits present.
Additional water-based parts washers provide a better work environment as they reduce the volatile organic compound emissions and their associated odors. They are less likely to cause skin problems such as dermatitis in workers. Aqueous parts washers must be chosen carefully and operated sensibly to derive maximum use.
