The Difficult Process of Silk Flower Making

Silk flower manufacturers are so advanced in their craft that their artificial flowers look even more real than living plants. By reading about the process you gain an insight into the time and effort that goes into its production. The fabric is die-cut into many petal shapes and sizes for just one kind of flower. Each petal is then dyed and painted to make them look like their living counterparts. It is definitely a work for an artist.

Can you imagine the amount of work that will go into silk orchid arrangements? It will take a lot of die-cutting molding and painting. The petals and leaves are put into molds that give them the distinctive wrinkles and curve lines of the ‘real’ look. But that is not the end of it. They have to glue the parts into thin wires covered with floral tape to be able to form the pieces into the desired arrangement. But when all is set and done, you can only marvel at the beauty of an orchid arrangement that is a beauty to behold.
